About the Role
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position at a Level III Trauma Center in Florence, Alabama. This 13-week assignment focuses on the Critical Care Unit (CCU) on the second floor of the Critical Care Services department. You will care for an adult and geriatric patient population with high-acuity diagnoses, including respiratory failure, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic and septic shock, GI bleeds, and post-operative disorders.
The primary assignment is in the CCU (22 beds), but you may float to the CVICU (14 beds), Critical Care Step-Down (31 beds), or med-surg if critical care areas are fully staffed. You will work 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a) for 36 hours per week, with every other weekend required. There are no on-call requirements for this position.
You will utilize advanced equipment including SpaceLabs bedside monitoring, Prismaflex CRRT machines, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), and various ventilators. The facility uses Meditech (Clinical Access) for ICU patients. Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position.
Hiring Process & Application
To be considered for this position, candidates must submit their Social Security number and date of birth. You must have an active AL RN license or Compact RN license. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Candidates must not have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months and may not be employed full-time elsewhere during this assignment.
Upon selection, you will complete required online learning modules including NIHSS, ACLS/BLS, Moderate Sedation/Analgesia, iStat, and glucometer certifications through the facility's Lifetalent platform. Dress code requires royal blue pants at all times; tops may be royal blue or a neutral-colored solid or NAMC-logo top.
