About the Role
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Burn ICU (BICU) position in Indianapolis, Indiana. This 12-week contract focuses on caring for adult and pediatric burn trauma patients on a night shift schedule.
In this role, you will deliver primary RN care to critically ill surgical patients within a hospital environment. The assignment involves managing a diverse range of patient conditions, including flame, scald, electrical, and chemical burns, as well as inhalation injuries, necrotic ischemia, and necrotizing fasciitis. You will work within a primary RN care model featuring a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio for critical care patients, with 1:1 nursing care support provided for burn trauma code 1 admissions and high-acuity or post-operative patients.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include specialized procedures such as invasive hemodynamic monitoring, IV drip titration, nurse-driven burn fluid resuscitation using the Parkland formula, ventilator management, CVVH, pulse and flap doppler checks, initial debridement and dressing changes, conscious sedation, surgical recovery, and epidural pump management.
