This position operates under the direction of the Support Services Manager within established organizational and departmental policies. As a member of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of the facility. Your day will involve a dynamic mix of patient support and logistical coordination, ensuring the smooth flow of care and communication throughout the hospital.
You will be responsible for transporting patients and equipment to all areas of the hospital, utilizing proper body mechanics to ensure safety for both yourself and those you assist. This includes transferring patients onto and off beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers, often in collaboration with nursing personnel. You will also monitor patients requiring one-to-one observation, reporting any changes in condition or needs to your supervisor.
In addition to patient transport, you will manage the hospital's mail and package distribution. This involves sorting, processing, and delivering incoming and outgoing mail and packages using various delivery services such as the USPS, UPS, and FedEx. You will track packages, prepare special mailings, and maintain accurate records of charges and distributions. The role also requires maintaining oxygen tanks, ensuring proper IV positioning during transport, and responding to security and life safety issues as needed.
