GA Foods is seeking a dedicated Transfer Driver for our Augusta/Covington location to ensure the safe and timely movement of prepared meals, raw materials, and equipment between facilities and customer locations. This role is vital to maintaining our operational flow across Florida, requiring a blend of professional driving, warehouse logistics, and strict adherence to DOT regulations.
You will operate Class B 26' vehicles to transfer products, utilizing electric pallet jacks and manual techniques to load and unload into freezers or warehouses. The position involves a dynamic mix of environments, ranging from temperature-controlled kitchens and warehouse spaces to delivery vehicles and office settings. Success in this role requires balancing hands-on physical tasks with administrative duties, such as completing vehicle documentation and communicating inventory updates to supervisors.
This position operates in a fast-paced setting that demands physical stamina and adaptability. You will be responsible for standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds while overseeing production and distribution activities. The role involves exposure to varying temperatures, including cold storage and outdoor loading docks, alongside prolonged periods of sitting while driving.
While the standard schedule is Monday through Friday, overtime and weekend work may be required based on route assignments and business needs. Daily operations include using computers and office equipment to manage schedules, enter data, and prepare reports.
Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse. Candidates must also pass a Level II background check, drug screening, and Clearinghouse verification.
