This position is exclusively open to internal candidates. The TOSA – School Leadership role is a strategic leadership development initiative designed to strengthen the district's internal pipeline of future school leaders. It offers a unique opportunity to develop and demonstrate capacity as an instructional leader while gaining hands-on, mentored experience in instructional coaching, building operations, school culture and climate, and family engagement.
This position serves as a structured program of study, coaching cycles, and performance-based leadership experiences aligned with district priorities. You will work under the guidance of the building principal, with support from District Leadership and HR as applicable.
The program includes ongoing mentorship and planned leadership experiences across key areas. A core component is mandatory attendance and active participation in the District Leadership Academy, which meets monthly and may include required sessions, assignments, and coaching components. While monthly sessions are prioritized, absences must be communicated in advance, and any make-up requirements must be completed.
As a TOSA, you will engage in leadership development across four primary strands: instructional leadership and coaching, building operations and systems leadership, culture, climate, and student supports, and family and community engagement. You will partner with the principal to advance the school's instructional vision, support high-quality instruction through coaching cycles, and assist with operational coordination such as coverage plans and event support.
You will also work to strengthen school culture through visibility and relationship-building, collaborate with support staff to implement student support systems, and build relationships with families to reduce barriers to student success.
This role operates on a certified contract calendar plus 10 additional days. These additional days are scheduled in collaboration with the principal to support the leadership experience, such as summer planning, school opening, data days, family events, and end-of-year planning. Occasional evening events related to family engagement or school programming may also be required.
This position is designed specifically as a principal pipeline role. Successful completion of the role provides strong evidence of readiness for future administrative opportunities within the district; however, it does not guarantee placement into an administrative position.
