The Applied Technologies division at Wagstaff specializes in the engineering and fabrication of stainless steel gloveboxes for the nuclear industry. As a critical component of our operations, this team is currently growing to meet increasing demands.
This position focuses primarily on stainless-steel fabrication, straightening, and welding using gas and electric welding equipment, with anticipated work involving carbon-steel and exotic metals. All work is performed in strict accordance with a Nuclear Quality Assurance program.
You will receive instructions, prints, and work orders to plan the details of working procedures, tools, and material requirements. The role requires reading and executing work based on Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and other pertinent documents. You will also be responsible for organizing and performing record-keeping tasks, such as weld mapping on complex weldments to maintain material traceability.
In addition to fabrication duties, you will use calibrated precision measuring instruments, including a Faro Arm, to ensure fabrication tolerances are met. You are expected to identify and recommend product or process improvements, document work processes and progress, and utilize basic MRP system knowledge for daily operations. The role also involves mentoring team members to develop skills in technical documentation and design specifications.
This role is performed in a manufacturing environment where employees are exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Risks include electrical shock, work in high or precarious places, exposure to outside weather conditions, and extreme temperatures. The noise level is often loud. Consequently, the use of job-appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required.
Employment at Wagstaff is dependent on successfully passing a company-paid drug screening and background check upon hire. Candidates will be tested on specific welding positions (1G, 2G, 3G) and processes (TIG and MIG) to verify proficiency.
Wagstaff is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, pregnancy, genetic information, disability, status as a protected veteran, or any other protected category under applicable federal, state, and local laws.
