The Aging & Disabilities department at Sedgwick County is dedicated to supporting the well-being of adults aged 60 and older, as well as individuals with disabilities. Our mission centers on delivering essential services that foster community connection and health, ensuring that eligible participants have access to nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment.
This position serves as the backbone of our congregate meal program, responsible for the smooth and efficient delivery of lunch at designated locations. You will be the face of the program for our guests, ensuring that every meal is served in a pleasant atmosphere that encourages social interaction among participants.
Your day will involve coordinating the entire meal service operation, from managing participant check-ins and reservations to overseeing volunteers who help serve the community. You will ensure strict adherence to food safety standards set by the Kansas Department of Agriculture, including equipment inspections, temperature monitoring, and proper food handling. Beyond the kitchen, you will play a key role in program support by conducting eligibility assessments, collecting participant data, and managing donation collection efforts to sustain the program.
As a vital link between the community and the county, you will also handle administrative duties such as accurate documentation of meals served, data entry for reservations, and communicating with the Nutrition Coordinator regarding any local issues. This role requires a flexible schedule, typically Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, with varied hours to meet the needs of the program.
Sedgwick County values a fair and transparent hiring process. Interested candidates are encouraged to review the full job requirements and apply through the official Sedgwick County job portal.
