SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City is dedicated to providing exceptional care to the community. The Central Telemetry department plays a critical role in patient safety, ensuring continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms to support clinical teams in delivering timely and effective care.
This position serves as a vital link in the cardiac care continuum, focusing on the continuous monitoring of patient heart rhythms. As a member of the telemetry team, you will observe cardiac monitors, maintain accurate records, and interpret rhythm strips in strict accordance with established nursing standards. Your work ensures that any changes in a patient's baseline rhythm, including potentially lethal arrhythmias, are identified and communicated immediately to the appropriate staff.
In this role, you will run rhythm strips upon admission, every four hours, and whenever a rhythm change occurs. You will measure and interpret PR, QRS, and QT intervals, ensuring all documentation is signed and filed correctly. A key part of your day involves maintaining telemetry logs, managing transmitter and SPO2 inventory, and ensuring alarms are set at appropriate limits for both adult and pediatric patients. You will also demonstrate awareness of how specific procedures or medications impact a patient's rhythm, acting with constant alertness to maintain a safe environment.
