The Ground Systems & Services (GSS) Strategic Business Unit drives business growth in ground systems development, operations, and sustainment. We focus on designing, building, and integrating ground systems to support air and space-based assets, providing operational support for mission platforms and instruments while offering scientific and engineering expertise to our customers.
In this role, you will work closely with engineers to develop and assemble test hardware that ensures state-of-the-art electronic devices perform flawlessly under radiation and cryogenic environments. This position offers a perfect blend of independence and collaboration; you will have the freedom to take charge of tasks while knowing a talented team is there to support you.
You will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you enjoy solving challenges that make a real impact. Your day-to-day will involve building or processing hardware for developmental electronic devices, troubleshooting assemblies, and maintaining rigorous electronic build records in accordance with BAE Systems policies and government regulations. You will also implement EHS processes to recognize and correct safety hazards, including those related to hazardous materials.
The role includes logistical support for experimental operations, such as loading and transporting experimental trailers to remote locations for approximately six support missions per year, each lasting about seven days with extended work hours. You will provide lab support for both in-house and on-site testing, as well as equipment upgrades. This position requires regular in-person engagement, working on-site five days a week, with potential travel between company campuses and other locations.
