About the Team

Join the Infrared Radiation Effects Laboratory (IRREL) at BAE Systems, Inc., within the Space & Mission Systems (SMS) Sector. As the U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems plc, we deliver a full range of products and services for air, land, and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics and security solutions. Our mission is ambitious yet clear: improving the future and protecting lives by defending national security with breakthrough technology and superior products.

Headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, Space & Mission Systems is a leading provider of national defense and civil space applications, advanced remote sensing, and scientific systems. We are powered by endlessly curious people with an unwavering mission focus, continually discovering ways to enable customers to perform beyond expectation and protect what matters most.

The Ground Systems & Services (GSS) Strategic Business Unit drives business growth in ground systems development, operations, and sustainment. We focus on designing, building, and integrating ground systems to support air and space-based assets, providing operational support for mission platforms and instruments while offering scientific and engineering expertise to our customers.

About the Role

In this role, you will work closely with engineers to develop and assemble test hardware that ensures state-of-the-art electronic devices perform flawlessly under radiation and cryogenic environments. This position offers a perfect blend of independence and collaboration; you will have the freedom to take charge of tasks while knowing a talented team is there to support you.

You will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you enjoy solving challenges that make a real impact. Your day-to-day will involve building or processing hardware for developmental electronic devices, troubleshooting assemblies, and maintaining rigorous electronic build records in accordance with BAE Systems policies and government regulations. You will also implement EHS processes to recognize and correct safety hazards, including those related to hazardous materials.

The role includes logistical support for experimental operations, such as loading and transporting experimental trailers to remote locations for approximately six support missions per year, each lasting about seven days with extended work hours. You will provide lab support for both in-house and on-site testing, as well as equipment upgrades. This position requires regular in-person engagement, working on-site five days a week, with potential travel between company campuses and other locations.

Hiring Process & Application

This position will be posted for at least 5 calendar days and will remain active until filled or a qualified pool of candidates is identified. Multiple positions may be available on this opening.

Please note that as this position requires operating a company vehicle, an offer and subsequent employment are contingent upon possessing and maintaining a valid US driver's license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check. While a security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible, applicants must be willing and eligible for submission depending on program requirements after an offer is accepted.

Equal Opportunity & Culture

At BAE Systems, we support our employees in all aspects of their life, including their health and financial well-being. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan, disability coverage, and life insurance, alongside paid time off, holidays, and various leave programs.

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We value the unique perspectives and experiences that each candidate brings to our team, recognizing that our strength lies in our ability to innovate and solve complex problems together.
