About the Mission

The mission of Speechify is to ensure that reading is never a barrier to learning. Over 50 million people use Speechify's text-to-speech products to turn PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio, enabling them to read faster, read more, and remember more. Our suite includes iOS, Android, and Mac apps, a Chrome Extension, and a Web App. Recently, Google named Speechify the Chrome Extension of the Year, and Apple awarded Speechify its Design award for inclusivity for 2025.

About the Team

Today, nearly 200 people work on Speechify globally in a 100% distributed setting with no physical office. Our team includes frontend and backend engineers, AI research scientists, and founders from leading organizations like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, as well as high-growth startups like Stripe, Vercel, and Bolt. We are a flat organization where anyone can become a leader by demonstrating excellent technical skills and consistently delivering results quickly.

About the Role

With the rapid growth of our Android app, now the most used text-to-speech app in the Play Store, we are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to support our expanding user base and drive new, exciting projects forward. This is a key role for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is passionate about making product decisions that delight users.

You will own major features, shape the future of our Android team, and maintain reliability metrics for key components. Working closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, you will review pull requests, handle critical issues, and take ownership of feature releases. This role offers the opportunity to build products that directly impact people with learning differences, including dyslexia, ADD, low vision, concussions, and autism, while working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and audio.
