About the Role

In this formal leadership role, you will manage engineers responsible for maturing Wellmark's Quality Engineering and Application Security practices across the entire enterprise. This is an engineering leadership position that enforces quality and security through systems, not checkpoints.

You will own the process and SDLC from high-level EPIC concepts to release, establishing enterprise-wide quality practices including test strategy, automation frameworks, and release quality criteria. Your mission is to drive adoption through coaching, reusable templates, and community learning. In partnership with security and engineering leadership, you will embed secure development practices into day-to-day workflows and CI/CD pipelines, leveraging GitHub Advanced Security to operationalize code scanning, secret scanning, and dependency insights.

You will define the vision for advanced engineering practices, aligning them with business goals and regulatory requirements. This includes owning the strategy for GitHub Enterprise and the internal developer portal, championing developer experience through tooling and process simplification, and leading programs to upskill engineers on emerging practices and AI-enhanced workflows.
