As a Teacher in Exceptional Education, you will help students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible individuals. Your mission is to create a classroom environment conducive to learning that is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students you serve.
In this role, you will plan programs of study tailored to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of your students. You will employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the capabilities of the student groups involved. A key part of your day involves diagnosing learning abilities on a regular basis and collaborating with district specialists to support student growth.
You will also play a vital role in supporting the district's CORE Literacy initiative and WOW (Working on the Works) programs. Beyond the classroom, you will be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required, and you will supervise teacher aides and volunteers to ensure a cohesive learning experience.
