This role resides within the IT Service Management Regional (ITSMR) Team under the Department of Transportation. The team is dedicated to providing comprehensive IT support to all customers utilizing the Department's services, including DOT staff, Bureau of Information Technology (BITS) personnel, and select government and private sector contacts. The mission is to ensure continuous service delivery, maintain high safety and health standards, and foster an inclusive workplace that values diversity.
As a Systems Administrator, you will serve as a key support resource for a broad and evolving assortment of IT policies, procedures, and technologies. Your day-to-day involves resolving technical support issues of varying complexity related to computer hardware, software, peripheral equipment, and user credentials. You will act as the first point of contact for customers, diagnosing and resolving issues via phone, in-person, or electronically.
Beyond immediate troubleshooting, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktop platforms and operating systems. You will also contribute to the team's knowledge base by documenting incidents, creating user communication templates, and assisting in the development of training materials. The role requires a strong customer focus, the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, and the maturity to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members, vendors, and business partners.
Candidates must be current Wisconsin residents; no relocation assistance is provided. Please note that this position requires W2 employment status, and sub-vendors are not accepted.
The interview process consists of a single session conducted via Microsoft Teams. Successful candidates will be required to work onsite for the initial 4-6 weeks of the contract to facilitate onboarding and training. Following this initial period, a hybrid work schedule may be available.
