About the Role
Ascension is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). In this vital position, you will serve as a key partner to surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists, ensuring seamless patient care during the critical transition from the operating room to recovery. Your work will focus on maintaining a safe, sterile environment while supporting patient monitoring, comfort, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circlePrepare operating rooms with instruments, supplies, and equipment according to surgeon preference cards
- check_circleEstablish and maintain sterile fields adhering to aseptic and infection prevention standards
- check_circleAssist surgeons intraoperatively by passing instruments and anticipating procedural needs
- check_circlePerform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with RN to ensure patient safety
- check_circleHandle and label specimens and assist with safe transfer to pathology or lab areas
- check_circleSupport room turnover by cleaning, restocking, and preparing the environment for subsequent cases
- check_circleAssist with safe transfer and positioning of patients from the OR to the PACU
- check_circleMonitor patients for changes in condition and promptly report observations to the RN or provider
- check_circleDocument activities and supply usage accurately in the electronic medical record and tracking systems
- check_circleAdhere to hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory policies including biohazard handling
- check_circleCollaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to promote efficient patient-centered care
- check_circleSupport PACU staff by connecting monitors, applying dressings, and maintaining lines and equipment
Requirements
- verifiedCertified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or equivalent credential
- verifiedBasic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- verifiedCompletion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- verifiedEligibility for state-specific surgical technologist registration/licensure if applicable
Nice to Have
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential or equivalent. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification for PACU setting. Experience with sterile processing and instrument care.
