About the Role
The Surgery Veterinary Assistant role is situated within a fast-paced environment designed for technicians seeking training in multiple facets of the department and interaction with other hospital teams. This position serves as a vital liaison between surgeons and clients, requiring strong communication skills to deliver post-operative care instructions and navigate client conversations regarding treatment plans and financial obligations.
In this role, you will manage the full spectrum of surgical support, from preparing patients for surgery (including shaving, scrubbing, positioning, intubation assistance, and radiographs) to performing blood draws and submitting bloodwork. You will also handle administrative duties such as managing appointments, obtaining patient histories, maintaining accurate medical records, invoicing, and patient discharges. Additionally, you will be responsible for opening, turning over, and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs.
