York Country Day School is seeking dedicated Summer Programs Counselors to join our team for the 2026 summer session, running from June 1 through August 7. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and educational environment where children from preschool through grade 6 can thrive. We strive to create a fun atmosphere that fosters social interaction, teamwork, and personal growth for all participants.
As a Summer Programs Counselor, you will be the backbone of our daily operations, working alongside the Program Director and summer supervisors to deliver high-quality instruction and engagement. Your day will be filled with leading indoor and outdoor activities, managing classroom groups, and ensuring the well-being of every child in your care. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, enforcing guidelines, and defusing conflicts with patience and enthusiasm.
This role requires a flexible schedule of no more than 29 hours per week, with shifts falling between 7:00 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. You will be the first point of contact for participants, guiding them through daily routines, cleanup tasks, and emergency procedures while keeping them engaged and happy.

Some post-secondary education. Prior experience attending or working at a summer camp. Classroom or classroom-equivalent experience with elementary aged children. Knowledge of counselor techniques for effectively working with participants and fellow counselors. Lifeguard certification.
