Support and Community
Oakland Unified is invested in creating and maintaining affinity spaces for educators that support retention and socio-emotional support. We provide extensive professional development and training for experienced and new teachers, innovative curricula, ongoing mentoring, and advancement opportunities.
We also support our educators through substantial funding for "Grow Our Own" pathway programs, including Classified-to-Teacher, Maestr@s, and the Salesforce Recruitment & Retention Initiative for Middle Schools. In partnership with TRiO Plus, Oakland Unified Educators have access to more affordable housing.
