Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Safety Engineer to join its team of diverse and qualified individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL or Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division.
The Sentinel program offers an exciting opportunity to join a team supporting activities including use case development, requirements definition, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability. You will collaborate with program Integrated Product Team (IPT) counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts, working with both technical teams and stakeholders to mature the architecture content of large program designs. A key part of this role involves developing unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes for model development, tool integration, and team integration, while ensuring system requirements are properly represented in the model.
This role operates on a standard 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. The position requires travel of approximately 10% of the time. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Lead a team in software safety processes in Engineering and Manufacturing Development Phase. At least 4 years of using DO-178 or DO-254 for design development. At least 5 years experience with C/C++, Java, object oriented design or similar software development experience. Experience developing in an Agile environment. Model Based Systems Engineering experience. Experience developing missile flight systems software. Associate Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certificate. Weapon System experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience). Active Top Secret clearance with investigation in the last 6 years.
