Key Responsibilities
- check_circleDefine long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for core hardware products
- check_circleDevelop and maintain strategic roadmaps for multiple distinct hardware technologies
- check_circleSynthesize diverse internal customer needs into unified product definitions
- check_circleTranslate strategic objectives into detailed Product Requirements Documents (PRDs)
- check_circlePrioritize features and manage trade-offs for long-term impact and growth
- check_circleAssess external market opportunities and conduct competitive analysis
- check_circleIdentify and pursue strategic funding through government RFPs and grants
- check_circleArticulate product vision and technical capabilities to internal and external stakeholders
- check_circleLead new core hardware product development and business case creation
Requirements
- verified7+ years in product management or similar role with focus on physical hardware products or integrated electro-mechanical systems
- verifiedEligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
Nice to Have
Experience using CAD models, physical prototypes, detailed system diagrams, and other visual tools to effectively communicate complex hardware concepts and system architectures. Deep technical understanding of hardware design principles (e.g., mechanical, electrical, thermal), manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, additive manufacturing, injection molding, PCB fabrication), test and validation methodologies, and supply chain complexities inherent in physical products. Direct experience in a business development, market analysis, or strategic planning role within a hardware-focused company, especially in defense or aerospace. Familiarity with government contracting processes, RFP response mechanisms, and understanding of defense acquisition lifecycles. Hands-on experience defining requirements for and working with engineering teams on specific hardware domains such as custom sensors, embedded compute platforms, or advanced actuation systems. Familiarity with hardware-software co-design, firmware development processes, and the integration challenges of bringing complex electro-mechanical systems to life. Experience working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative defense or aerospace engineering environment with iterative hardware development cycles.
