About Mount Marty University

Located on a beautifully maintained 80-acre campus along the bluffs of the Missouri River, Mount Marty University is defined by outstanding teaching, small class sizes, and a strong commitment to the liberal arts in the Catholic, Benedictine tradition. The University is regionally noted for its strong science programs. Situated minutes away from Lewis & Clark Lake, one of South Dakota's most popular recreation areas, the campus is also within driving distance of the Twin Cities and Omaha.

About the Role

The Staff Accountant provides essential support for the University's accounting functions, serving as a key partner to the Vice President for Finance. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity of the university's financial operations, from daily journal entries and reconciliations to the preparation of complex audits. You will act as a primary point of contact for the campus community regarding budget-to-actual inquiries, bridging the gap between financial data and operational needs.

In this position, you will manage the administration of the Anthology Finance system, maintain fixed asset schedules, and coordinate closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll to ensure accurate monthly closes. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to preparing materials for annual Financial Statements, the Financial Aid Single Audit, and federal tax filings. You will also process invoices for federal, state, and private grants, ensuring all expenditures align with grantor guidelines and university policy.

Application Instructions

Applicants must submit a letter of application, a resume, and the names and email addresses of three references. Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. For more detailed information about Mount Marty University, including the full mission statement, please visit our website.

Equal Opportunity

Mount Marty University is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics. This is a non-exempt full-time position that must adhere to the Mount Marty University handbook.
