Space is a critical domain connecting our technologies, security, and humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities where we can innovate, invest, inspire, and integrate our capabilities to transform the future. At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve.
We are creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision. We are erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world, advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career built for you.
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design and build mechanisms for spacecraft and missiles. These critical components include anything that moves on a satellite, such as hinges, gimbals, motors, gears, dampers, rotary joints, linear actuators, and deployables. You will join a team that has developed and flown the most innovative mechanism designs in the industry, including the largest mechanism ever deployed in space: the International Space Station Solar Array.
The mechanisms design team supports all lines of business at Lockheed Martin. In this role, you could be designing mechanisms for the next mission to Mars, the next generation of GPS satellites, or systems that protect and defend our nation. You will serve as a member of integrated product teams, collaborating with engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers. You may also represent the organization in design reviews and readiness boards, and potentially serve as the Certified Principal Engineer (CPE), acting as the technical advocate for a mechanism from program inception through on-orbit operations.
To promote the sharing of ideas, we champion a work environment that supports differences and big-picture thinking. Our people are some of the greatest minds in the industry, and we provide diverse career opportunities designed to propel, develop, and boost agility. We place an emphasis on empowering our employees by fostering an inclusive environment built upon integrity and corporate responsibility.
