This Sr. Aviation Systems Analyst role provides critical technical and engineering support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) NextGen program, now housed within The Airspace Modernization Office. Mandated by the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, this initiative is responsible for modernizing the National Airspace System (NAS) through planning, research, development, and portfolio management.
The position specifically supports the Integrated NAS Design and Procedure Planning office, focusing on Performance Based Navigation (PBN) Initiatives. Key projects include Multiple Air Route Separation (MARS), a NextGen concept designed to alleviate airport congestion by deconflicting arrivals and departures. The ultimate goal is to increase operational efficiency, reduce controller and pilot workload, achieve fuel and time savings, and establish predictable, repeatable flight paths.
As a Sr. Aviation Systems Analyst, you will serve as a vital link between engineering, operations, and management within the FAA's NextGen Organization. This role requires significant stakeholder engagement to provide technical and programmatic advice, leveraging deep knowledge of Air Traffic Control and PBN to guide the customer.
Your day-to-day involves driving program management support through analysis, technical documentation reviews, and oversight of daily task management. You will document program requirements, align future PBN strategies, and maintain a historical trail of project course changes. The role demands high-level analytical skills to conduct studies, prepare working papers, and deliver cohesive presentations that meet specific audience needs.
You will also manage the administrative backbone of the program, including maintaining weekly agendas for cross-organizational core team meetings, preparing Project Level Agreements (PLAs), and developing quarterly Program Management Review (PMR) briefings. Ensuring portfolio deliverables are submitted on time with accurate supporting materials, while tracking risks, issues, and actions, is central to your success. Additionally, you will maintain project document libraries within Microsoft Teams and SharePoint and submit monthly Strategic Business Management goals to the FAA's SPIRE database.
