The SpEd Paraprofessional - Resource position at Challenger Middle School is dedicated to supporting the day-to-day educational needs of special education students. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed teacher, this role focuses on reinforcing instructional programs, assisting with individual and small-group learning activities, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment. The paraprofessional acts as a vital extension of the teaching team, helping students navigate academic tasks, behavioral expectations, and daily routines without making independent diagnostic or long-term educational decisions.
This position is dynamic and student-centered. A typical day involves a mix of classroom support, one-on-one tutoring, and logistical assistance. Duties may include facilitating story time, monitoring behavior contracts, assisting with physical tasks such as mobility or personal care, and providing first aid when necessary. The role requires flexibility, as the position is tied to current student needs at the school; if program requirements shift, the incumbent may be required to relocate to another school within the district to meet those needs.
We are committed to fostering a positive climate and community where every student can thrive. This role demands a high level of compassion, patience, and integrity. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality while building effective working relationships with students, parents, administrators, and diverse staff members. We value individuals who are energetic, creative, and dedicated to the education of students as their primary responsibility.
To apply for this position, new applicants and current district staff must submit their application through the Workday application portal. Please note that documents emailed directly to a supervisor will not be considered. Your application must include a current resume uploaded in PDF format.
