This position serves as a vital bridge between academic instruction, student success, and community engagement within the Institute of Agricultural Technology (IAT). The role is designed to foster a dynamic learning environment where students are not only educated in forest technology and agricultural sciences but are also guided toward professional growth and retention.
You will balance three core pillars: academic advising, course instruction, and strategic outreach. As an advisor, you will support current students in navigating their academic plans, identifying those who need extra assistance through EASE reports, and mentoring student organizations. In the classroom, you will teach essential courses such as the new student seminar and professional internship, while also contributing to program evaluation to ensure learning outcomes align with industry needs.
A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to outreach. You will drive recruitment efforts to maintain optimal enrollment, building strong relationships with the agricultural industry, high school counselors, and diverse community stakeholders. By maintaining an advisory board and representing IAT at local events and university committees, you will help expand the program's reach and develop new off-campus partnerships.
You will join Michigan State University, a top research university advancing the common good for over 160 years. MSU is dedicated to solving pressing global challenges through discovery and enduring partnerships. Within this ecosystem, the IAT team works to provide life-changing opportunities to a diverse and inclusive academic community, ensuring that students are prepared for the workforce through rigorous programs and strong industry connections.
Interested candidates should submit their application through careers.msu.edu. Required materials include a resume, cover letter, and the names of three references. Application review begins on February 17, 2026.
