About the Role
The Special Education Teacher (Resource) at Westside High School plays a vital role in supporting students with varying disabilities during the 2026-2027 school year. This position focuses on delivering high-quality support services that empower students to achieve their academic and behavioral potential. The role involves instructing students who have been identified, assessed, and diagnosed with disabilities, while implementing behavior modification techniques and classroom engineering skills to encourage positive outcomes.
In this capacity, you will develop and provide a wide variety of activities to meet specific lesson and program objectives. A key aspect of the role is crafting academic and behavioral goals within Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and lesson plans. You will also teach daily living skills and utilize various evaluation instruments to monitor student progress. Success in this role requires responsiveness to the needs of parents, encouraging their active participation in their child's educational program, while maintaining strict confidentiality of student records.
Hiring and Evaluation
Candidates selected for this position will report directly to the Principal. Performance will be evaluated yearly by the Principal, with guidance from the Executive Director of Special Education. The role requires a commitment to professional growth, including participation in professional development programs and attendance at staff meetings and committees as needed.
