About the Role
As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in fostering the social, physical, and intellectual growth of students with disabilities. Your mission is to guide these students toward becoming mature, able, and responsible individuals by delivering instruction that promotes their development in key subject matters and skills.
You will work within an assigned school to create a classroom culture conducive to learning, tailored to the maturity and interests of your students. This involves building strong rapport with students, parents, service providers, and fellow teachers. Your day-to-day work includes planning and delivering evidence-based instruction, utilizing data and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals to drive effective groupings for individual and small-group learning.
Beyond the classroom, you will be responsible for analyzing screening instruments and evaluation results to develop appropriate IEPs, writing and leading IEP meetings in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. You will also oversee instructional aides and volunteers, ensuring that all policies and rules governing student life are implemented fairly and justly.
