Reporting directly to the Recreation Superintendent, this position serves as a vital support pillar for the Recreation Division, specifically focusing on the tennis program. The role is designed to foster a welcoming and friendly environment for guests while ensuring the seamless operation of both private and group tennis lessons.
In this capacity, you will be the face of the tennis facility, responsible for coaching, teaching, and coordinating lesson schedules. Your day-to-day involves managing league and tournament logistics, registering participants, and communicating effectively with participants and their guardians. Beyond instruction, the role encompasses significant operational duties, including processing fees, maintaining records, purchasing supplies, and preparing and cleaning indoor and outdoor tennis spaces.
The position also extends into contract management for vendors and event labor, requiring you to assist with reviewing and drafting event contracts, ensuring proper insurance coverage, managing event schedules, handling ticket sales, and coordinating with the Finance Department. You will play a key role in developing reports, managing volunteer logs, and overseeing cash management to ensure the financial health of the programs.
Duties are primarily performed in an outdoor setting. Candidates should be prepared for exposure to dust, mold, allergens, inclement weather, and electrical hazards. The role requires a flexible schedule to accommodate special events, meetings, and the ability to work nights and weekends. Additionally, this position may be required to report for work during a declaration of emergency in Polk County.
Applicants who complete the initial screening process will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screen and physical. Police Department applicants are subject to a Polygraph Examination. All candidates must pass applicable pre-employment testing, as well as background and credit checks.
Salary ranges are provided to indicate the minimum to maximum compensation for the position and do not guarantee a specific starting salary. Compensation for this role includes a percentage-based structure for lessons: 80-100% for private lessons and 60-80% for group lessons.
