Propel Schools is the largest network of public charter schools in Allegheny County, comprising 12 schools and serving approximately 3,000 scholars. Our mission is to provide high-quality schools to underserved communities. We foster a rigorous academic environment with small class sizes, ensuring educators can focus on providing each scholar with the support and individualized attention they need to succeed.
As a Special Education Coordinator, you will be the driving force behind the implementation and compliance of special education services across our school buildings. This role exists to ensure that every student with a disability receives appropriate academic, behavioral, and related services in the least restrictive environment. You will bridge the gap between legal requirements and classroom reality, overseeing the lifecycle of IEPs, evaluations, and 504 plans while ensuring all timelines are met.
Your day will be a dynamic blend of strategic oversight and hands-on support. You will monitor case management, facilitate IEP meetings, and coordinate referrals for evaluations. Beyond compliance, you will serve as a vital coach and mentor to special education teachers, particularly those new to the field, providing professional development on instructional supports and co-teaching practices. You will also lead efforts to strengthen inclusive practices, collaborating with building leaders, counselors, and culture coaches to improve behavioral supports for all students. From modeling classroom lessons to training parents on available services, you will be a central figure in building a supportive, high-functioning special education ecosystem within our community.
