The Role

During the course of their careers, special agents carry out assignments in both investigations and protection. Agents may be assigned to multiple duty stations throughout the U.S. and abroad. The role involves providing protection for various protectees, conducting criminal investigations pertaining to financial obligations of the United States, and planning and implementing security designs for National Special Security Events.

Hiring Process and Training

Successful candidates must complete 13 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA, followed by 18 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.

Culture and Commitment

Becoming a special agent requires a commitment to mobility and integrity. Agents must sign a mobility agreement stating their willingness to accept assignments anywhere within the United States and overseas. The role demands the ability to carry and use a firearm, with maintaining firearm proficiency being mandatory. Additionally, candidates must obtain and retain a Top Secret Clearance throughout their career.
