This is no ordinary job, and our special agents are no ordinary individuals. As a special agent, you will carry out assignments in both investigations and protection, potentially being assigned to multiple duty stations throughout the U.S. and abroad. Your duties will include providing protection for various protectees, conducting criminal investigations pertaining to the financial obligations of the United States, and planning and implementing security designs for National Special Security Events.

Becoming a special agent requires a commitment to excellence and rigorous preparation. Selected candidates must complete 13 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA, followed by 18 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
To join our ranks, you must be a U.S. citizen, possess a current valid driver's license, and be willing to carry and use a firearm, maintaining mandatory proficiency. You must be at least 21 years old at the time of application and less than 37 at the time of receiving a conditional offer of employment (with specific exceptions for prior federal law enforcement or firefighter service). Additionally, you must obtain and retain a Top Secret Clearance throughout your career.
Physical standards are strict: you must possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular, with corrected acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye. Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in either ear within specific frequency ranges. Candidates must also submit to drug testing prior to appointment and randomly thereafter, and certify Selective Service registration if applicable.
Finally, all agents must sign a mobility agreement stating their willingness to accept assignments anywhere within the United States and overseas.
