During the course of their careers, special agents carry out assignments in both investigations and protection. Agents may be assigned to multiple duty stations throughout the U.S. and abroad. The role involves providing protection for various protectees, conducting criminal investigations pertaining to financial obligations of the United States, and planning and implementing security designs for National Special Security Events.
Becoming a special agent requires completing 13 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA, followed by 18 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
