The Southern New England Regional Trails Supervisor serves as a vital steward for the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), developing and sustaining trails management programs across central and western Massachusetts and northwestern Connecticut. This position is pivotal to advancing AMC's Vision 2020 goals by expanding volunteerism and engaging youth in the outdoors through the management of the Appalachian Trail Ridgerunner Program and the Southern New England Teen Trail Crew Program.
Working from the Kellogg Conservation Center in South Egremont, MA, the Supervisor acts as a regional ambassador, fostering partnerships with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, state agencies, local land trusts, and conservation organizations. The role blends traditional trail maintenance expertise with contemporary backcountry recreation management, requiring a deep familiarity with Leave No Trace principles. Beyond technical trail work, the Supervisor will drive program growth by developing new partnerships in the Berkshire and Pioneer Valley regions and serving as a resource for local organizations launching new trail projects.
