The Catalog Derivation Platform team is a vital part of Walmart's Catalog organization, working closely with US stores and eCommerce to empower team members, stores, and merchants through technological innovation. Our mission is to serve customers by enhancing the product selection experience across groceries, entertainment, sporting goods, and crafts, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, via mobile apps, or in-store. We focus on customers, stores, employees, in-store service, merchant tools, data science, and search personalization to ensure the extensive selection our customers value is accurate and accessible.
As a Software Engineer on the Catalog Derivation Platform team, you will play a key role in building and maintaining scalable services that drive product attribute derivation, variant redesign, and catalog enrichment. This role exists to bridge the gap between complex data requirements and user-facing product experiences. You will design and develop robust Java backend services, integrating real-time messaging pipelines and managing data storage for analytics and enrichment workflows.
In your day-to-day, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Setup, Variant Management, and Editorial to deliver impactful catalog solutions. A significant part of your contribution involves leveraging AI-powered tools and agentic workflows to automate development tasks, improve code quality, and accelerate delivery. You will be expected to stay current with emerging technologies and backend engineering best practices, ensuring our platform remains at the forefront of retail innovation.
