About the Role
As a Soft Seating Product Development Specialist, you will serve as a vital bridge between design concepts and manufacturing reality. Based in our Morristown, TN facility, this role exists to ensure that our soft seating products are not only innovative but also feasible, efficient, and high-quality when they reach the production floor. You will work directly with the Engineering Manager, collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, and Upholstery teams to troubleshoot design issues and implement corrections.
Your day will be a blend of technical precision and hands-on craftsmanship. You will create and modify 2D product drawings in AutoCAD, manage fabric pattern DXF files, and build plywood frames and upholstery samples to validate designs. Beyond the digital workspace, you will step onto the shop floor to demonstrate correct build methods, operate CNC routers, and verify dimensions using measuring equipment. You will also develop standard work instructions and calculate material usage to support accurate costing and planning. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn SolidWorks and gain deep working knowledge of foam and fabric cutting processes while participating in continuous improvement efforts focused on manufacturability and material optimization.
