As a Skilled Arborist, you will lead crews in delivering safety-conscious, high-quality arboricultural services. This role is central to maintaining tree health and public safety, requiring a blend of technical expertise in pruning, climbing, and risk assessment with strong leadership and customer service skills. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of tree care, from routine maintenance and plant health care to emergency storm clean-up and complex root interventions.
Your day begins with ensuring PHC trucks are fully prepared, fueled, and equipped for the job site. You will lead and motivate your crew, setting the tone for a culture of safety and meticulous workmanship. Throughout the day, you will perform a variety of tasks including tree pruning, removals, stump grinding, and cable bracing, while strictly adhering to ANSI Z133 Safety Standards.
Beyond the physical work, you will manage client relationships by coordinating services, advising on tree health, and collecting payments. You will also maintain rigorous records, including work orders and tailgate safety records, ensuring full compliance with BCPHC's Occupational Health & Safety Policies.
Safety is the foundation of our operations. We expect every team member to lead by example, attend district safety meetings, and maintain a safe environment for both the crew and the public. We are committed to your professional development, offering an Education/Professional Development Allowance to support your growth in the industry.
To be considered for this position, you must possess at least 4 years of arboricultural, climbing, or aerial lift truck experience. An ISA Certified Arborist credential or comparable industry training is required, along with a Class 5 Driver's Licence with an Air Brakes Endorsement (to be obtained shortly after hire). WHMIS and First Aid certificates are mandatory.
We are looking for individuals with strong interpersonal skills, a desire to build client rapport, and a production-focused work ethic. If you are ready to take the lead on high-quality tree care while ensuring the safety of your team and the community, we invite you to apply.
