About the Role

At SGC Foodservice, we are dedicated to delivering fresh groceries and foodservice products efficiently to our customers. This position is vital to our operations, ensuring that goods move safely and reliably from our distribution centers to their final destinations. As a Tractor-Trailer Driver, you will be the backbone of our logistics chain, navigating both short and long distances to keep our supply lines open.

You will operate gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combinations, managing the full lifecycle of a delivery. Your day involves more than just driving; you will be responsible for hooking and unhooking trailers, securing cargo with precision, and performing thorough vehicle inspections before, during, and after every trip. Whether navigating heavy traffic, inclement weather, or tight loading dock areas, your expertise ensures that shipments arrive intact and on schedule.

This role requires a high degree of physical stamina and situational awareness. You will spend a significant portion of your day outdoors, exposed to varying weather conditions, and must be prepared to handle manual freight operations, including lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy loads. You will also manage critical documentation, verify hazardous materials compliance, and maintain accurate logs to meet federal and state regulations.

Hiring Process

Candidates must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record. The selection process includes a review of your driving history and experience, followed by mandatory testing to ensure physical capability and safety compliance. This includes a drug test, an alcohol test (if applicable), and a POET (Post Offer Employment Test) to assess your ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job. Successful candidates will also need to meet U.S. Dept. of Transportation medical standards.
