About the Role
We are seeking a Senior ServiceNow Technical Architect to lead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise ServiceNow solutions for a California state agency. In this capacity, you will own the end-to-end platform vision, encompassing the data model, module architecture, integrations, security, and governance. You will serve as the senior technical authority, guiding development teams, system integrators, and state stakeholders through the full project and approval lifecycle.
This role is critical for translating complex business and regulatory requirements into scalable, maintainable designs that align with ServiceNow best practices and state standards. You will architect solutions across a broad spectrum of ServiceNow modules, including ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, and GRC, while defining strategies for CMDB, data migration, and DevOps practices. Beyond technical design, you will provide hands-on leadership during testing, UAT, and post-go-live stabilization, ensuring knowledge transfer to state staff.
Public sector ServiceNow delivery and familiarity with California Department of Technology (CDT) project frameworks are strongly preferred for this position.

Key Responsibilities

- check_circleLead technical design reviews and provide hands-on guidance on Flow Designer and scripting
- check_circleDefine CMDB strategy, discovery, service mapping, and data quality normalization approaches
- check_circleDefine data migration, conversion, and transformation strategies for legacy-to-ServiceNow transitions
- check_circleCollaborate with project managers, developers, and QA throughout the SDLC
- check_circleSupport procurement and solution-evaluation activities by reviewing SOWs and vendor proposals
- check_circleProvide technical leadership through testing, UAT, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization
- check_circleDocument conceptual and detailed architecture, security models, and technical specifications
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- verified10+ years of IT experience
- verified5+ years architecting and implementing solutions on the ServiceNow platform
- verifiedDeep expertise in ServiceNow platform architecture, data model, CMDB
- verifiedStrong hands-on background in ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript/Glide)
- verifiedExperience designing and delivering complex ServiceNow integrations (REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID Server)
- verifiedExperience implementing multiple ServiceNow modules
- verifiedExperience leading data migration and conversion
- verifiedDemonstrated experience as the lead technical architect on at least one large, complex, enterprise-scale IT project
- verifiedServiceNow certifications strongly preferred (CMA, CTA, CIS, CAD, CSA)
Nice to Have
Prior ServiceNow delivery with a California state agency or other U.S. public sector/government organization. Familiarity with the CDT Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL)/Project Delivery Lifecycle (PDL) and the California Project Management Framework (CA-PMF). Experience with ServiceNow on Government Community Cloud (GCC)/FedRAMP-authorized environments. ServiceNow certifications such as Certified Master Architect (CMA), Certified Technical Architect (CTA), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS), Certified Application Developer (CAD), or Certified System Administrator (CSA).
