The Service Engineer Apprentice program is designed to cultivate the next generation of technical experts within DMG MORI. This role serves as the foundational step in a structured 2-to-3-year journey, where participants transition from classroom learning to hands-on mastery of installing, repairing, and moving DMG MORI machines. The position exists to ensure a steady pipeline of certified professionals capable of maintaining the company's high standards of service and customer satisfaction.
As an apprentice, you will spend your days balancing rigorous training with real-world application. You will complete classroom, factory, and online coursework, aiming for scores of 80% or higher, while simultaneously shadowing experienced Service Engineers on customer sites. This dual approach allows you to learn through observation and active assistance, gradually building the competency required to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery independently. The role demands adaptability, as you will frequently navigate abrupt changes in schedules and travel arrangements to minimize customer downtime.
This position offers a dynamic work environment that blends general office settings at DMG MORI locations with the intensity of manufacturing and machining floors. You will be exposed to environments containing noise, electricity, chemicals, and heavy equipment, requiring a high degree of situational awareness and safety consciousness. The role is physically demanding, involving frequent travel (up to 75%), operating vehicles, and manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and reaching.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse screening. Please note that employment is conditioned on DMG MORI's ability to obtain and maintain any necessary export licensing.
