About the Role
The Unified Communications Senior Engineer serves as a critical architect and operator for the organization's voice, video, and collaboration networks. This role exists to ensure the seamless delivery of functional communication systems, bridging the gap between engineering design and real-world operational stability. You will work closely with Unified Communications Engineering resources to maintain high availability and performance across complex system clusters and endpoints.
Day in the Life
Your work involves a dynamic mix of strategic planning and immediate incident response. You will analyze and design network infrastructures, selecting and upgrading protocol suites to meet evolving needs. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to configuring systems, planning updates, and scheduling necessary outages to minimize disruption.
When issues arise, you are expected to respond quickly to software and hardware challenges, resolving on-the-spot problems while replicating issues for internal diagnosis. You will also prepare and proofread technical documentation that accurately depicts problems and solutions for feedback to developers and vendors. Beyond technical execution, you will provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced engineers, developing procedures for managing baseline hardware and system updates.
Hiring Process
Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance to proceed. The role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, along with 10+ years of experience or equivalent certifications and military/work experience. Specific technical proficiency in Cisco CCNP Collaboration and knowledge of system coding (Scala, JavaScript, Python, PHP) are highly valued.
