At RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose to solve the world's most complex problems. With three market-leading businesses and world-class operations, we push the boundaries of known science to connect and protect our world.
Raytheon brings over 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today's mission and stay ahead of tomorrow's threats. We deliver solutions that help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression, creating a safer, more secure world.
The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department ensures structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support, the team delivers innovative engineering solutions. We utilize methods ranging from classical fundamental techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods, all validated by tests that ensure cost-effective yet technically balanced outcomes.
The MA&T Center in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a mid-level Senior Thermal Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will drive detailed thermal analysis on products throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial design trade studies and proposals through qualification testing to enduring production support.
You will tackle difficult problems requiring imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions. Your work will span the spectrum from classical hand analyses to detailed simulations using finite element analysis software. As a Senior Thermal Engineer, you are expected to possess deep technical competence in thermodynamic principles and be accountable for delivering work within agreed-upon cost and schedule constraints. Beyond execution, you will present your work for peer reviews, serve as a reviewer for colleagues, and actively plan and support tests, perform data reduction, and engage in thermal model correlation.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid, or remote. RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted, though business necessity may adjust this timeline.
