The facility includes an ambulance-accessible emergency room supported by board-certified physicians and houses state-of-the-art medical equipment. Sentara Independence serves as an extension of the quality services at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, including advanced imaging and physical therapy.
About the Role
The Senior Specialty Infrastructure Engineer is a hybrid position based in Virginia Beach, VA, working the first (days) shift. This role is critical for maintaining the organization's cloud, network, and telecommunication infrastructure. The engineer ensures the smooth flow of data and voice throughout the organization by detecting system and application issues and resolving connectivity challenges.
In this position, you will manage the security of computer systems, networks, and inter-application information transfers. You will be responsible for ensuring optimum uptime for the complete network, telecom, cloud services, cloud storage, and cloud servers. The role involves improving, planning capacity, and designing infrastructure engineering projects. As an experienced professional, you will apply practical knowledge to solve difficult problems, working independently with general supervision and influencing others through the explanation of facts, policies, and practices.
The role requires physical presence at Sentara sites to perform troubleshooting, installation, repair, and replacement of physical networking equipment. This includes the ability to work in active construction sites with appropriate PPE and perform basic physical tasks such as lifting 25-50 lbs and occasional ladder use. A valid driver's license is required to operate a motor vehicle for distances greater than 100 miles (3-4 hours) as needed.
Hiring Process
Candidates with solid Cisco Catalyst route/switch experience are sought for this position. Knowledge of BGP routing, Cisco/Fortinet Firewall experience, Cisco Wireless and Juniper Mist Wireless experience, and Juniper Routing and switching configuration experience are considered valuable additions to the candidate profile.
