Mission
The mission of Speechify is to make sure that reading is never a barrier to learning. Over 50 million people use Speechify's text-to-speech products to turn whatever they're reading—PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, websites—into audio, so they can read faster, read more, and remember more.

About the Role
You will lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications, defining best practices for the codebase and driving accessibility efforts to ensure our software is usable by everyone. This is a high-impact role where you will shape the future of our Windows product and directly influence what millions of users see and experience.
As a key member of our collaborative, flat-structure engineering culture, you will not just be a coder but a builder and a decision-maker. You will take ownership of the full lifecycle of features, from conception to maintenance, while mentoring others and steering technical direction. The role offers significant flexibility and autonomy, allowing you to define how to solve problems and contribute to the long-term product vision.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleDefine and enforce best practices for code architecture, performance, memory usage, and cross-version compatibility
- check_circleCollaborate with product designers, UX researchers, and QA to shape feature planning and UI/UX architecture
- check_circleIdentify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and rendering issues
- check_circleLead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++
- check_circleTake ownership of the full feature lifecycle from conception and design through testing, release, and maintenance

Requirements

Nice to Have
Experience with writing automated tests for UI (unit tests, integration tests, UI automation tests) and familiarity with relevant testing frameworks. Experience with performance optimization for desktop apps (memory usage, startup time, rendering performance, high-DPI support, responsiveness under load). Experience with localization/globalization, right-to-left UI support, internationalization, and accessibility for multiple regions. Familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring in desktop applications. Previous experience in shaping CI/CD workflows, release pipelines, and deployment strategies for desktop applications. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of feature areas or modules and drive them long-term, including maintenance, refactoring, and technical debt management.
