This position serves as a Registered Nurse within the Emergency Department at Parkland, a facility dedicated to providing high-acuity, fast-paced patient care. The role is designed for a licensed professional who utilizes the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate care for patients with complex and critical health conditions. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will act as a patient advocate, ensuring that care delivery focuses on individual needs, rights, and cultural preferences while navigating the challenges of a busy emergency environment.
In this capacity, you will exercise independent judgment to assess patients, identify nursing diagnoses, and implement individualized plans of care. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve managing a diverse range of injuries and conditions—from trauma and toxicological cases to cardiovascular and infectious diseases—while ensuring safe medication administration and emergency resuscitation. Beyond direct patient care, you will serve as a resource for the team, providing direction to non-nursing staff, acting as a preceptor for newer nurses, and leading in-service educational programs to foster continuous improvement in clinical standards and patient satisfaction.
