This role sits within the Partnerships, Content & Community marketing team at REI. The team operates with a high degree of autonomy and influence, contributing to defining direction at the department level while driving complex, cross-functional work. The core mission is to ensure the value of being an REI member is clear, compelling, and differentiated, strengthening awareness and participation in member benefits to fuel growth, engagement, retention, and long-term loyalty.
The Senior Program Manager for Membership Marketing serves as the strategic marketing lead and thought partner to REI's Membership Program team. You will translate membership priorities and initiatives into insights-led loyalty marketing strategies, working in close partnership with all owned, earned, and paid marketing channels. This role owns the end-to-end development of annual marketing strategies, including performance management, and requires the ability to operate through ambiguity while managing cross-divisional work without direct authority.
In this position, you will act as the marketing organization's authority on membership, educating and aligning contributors across the organization. You will drive cross-functional planning with teams including Lifecycle, Paid Media, Email, Social, Content, Creative, PR, Local Marketing, and Store Operations. Your work involves synthesizing membership and marketing insights into clear strategic direction, evolving how REI communicates member value, and driving new processes that increase clarity and efficiency.
Candidates are invited to apply directly through the REI careers portal. The selection process typically involves reviewing your strategic approach to membership marketing and cross-functional leadership, followed by interviews with the hiring team and key stakeholders to assess cultural fit and alignment with REI's mission.
At REI, we believe the outdoors is for all. We are committed to becoming a fully inclusive, anti-racist, multicultural organization. We know that there's strength in our diversity; each employee brings unique skills, experiences, and perspectives. We seek employees who demonstrate different ways of working, create a sense of belonging, and actively listen and learn. Every day, you will be driving change and fostering a culture of respect, backed by benefits that support your whole life.
