The Senior Product Development Engineer leads commercialization efforts to launch innovative medical devices in the foot and ankle industry. This role is designed for an individual energized by taking on challenges and who draws satisfaction from working hard to ensure the efficacy of new products.
In this position, you will coordinate all activities required for the successful commercialization of mechanical devices intended for surgical use. You will evaluate design performance to integrate refinements while driving commercialization steps to ensure high product value in minimized time.
A key part of your day involves rapidly learning design intent and identifying manufacturing improvements that do not compromise core functionality. You will formulate specifications and engineering drawings to ensure scaled product stability with a minimized inspection burden, while also analyzing tolerance stack-up effects.
You will author formal engineering rationales, risk assessments, and V&V testing protocols and reports that are accurate, comprehensive, and compliant with internal and external requirements. Collaboration is central to this role; you will work closely with Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Marketing personnel to ensure everyone's tasks on the project are meaningful, clear, and supported. Additionally, you will gather and interpret valuable feedback from users and stakeholders related to new designs, facilitating the flow of information to avoid wasting time and effort.
This role includes occasional travel (approximately 15%) to out-of-town labs, surgeries, and supplier visits, as well as occasional work on weekends.
