The Mechanical Engineering (ME) organization leads in mechanical hardware design, development, and production using state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Six Sigma principles. ME's capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines, including engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.
The Shipboard Effectors Department is searching for an experienced Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a multi-discipline team in support of the production of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems in Huntsville, AL. This position requires a strong, dynamic leader to serve as an Engineering Tech Lead.
In this role, you will partner with the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) to ensure the 'technical conscience of the missile' during Program and Customer engagements. You will provide sound rationale, striving for root cause and corrective action in problem-solving. You will work closely with Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads and Program Managers to ensure that engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules and budgets are met. Decisions will be data-driven, requiring the preparation of technical justification analysis reports and presentations to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
As a key stakeholder, you will drive positive change within the production environment, participating in Failure Review Boards, FRACAS activities, obsolescence resolution, and other continuous improvement efforts. You will establish and manage product vision, strategy, and goals to align with multiple contracts and facilitate production line conflict resolution regarding schedule and capacity.

Twelve (12) years of directly related work experience in mechanical design and/or production support. Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Strong technical background with high technical aptitude. Strong leadership skills and project management experience. Strong verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative. Willingness to support tasks as experience allows relative to both design development and production support. Proficient in Creo (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM). Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point & Project). Demonstrated ability in technical leadership and execution (e.g., CE or PM). Active DoD issued security clearance.
