The Senior Mission Operations Engineer serves as the primary operational integrator between engineering, ground software, and flight teams throughout the spacecraft lifecycle. This role is critical for ensuring that operational constraints, procedures, risk mitigations, and readiness activities are thoroughly defined, validated, and aligned with mission objectives.
You will drive cross-team coordination, support real-time operations, and shape the operational architecture. Beyond technical execution, a core part of this position involves elevating operator capability through mentorship and continuous improvement. Success in this role means delivering high-quality operational products on schedule, ensuring procedures are accurate and reliable, and acting as a trusted technical partner who understands both spacecraft design needs and operational realities.
Turion Space operates in rapidly evolving mission environments, requiring small, fast-paced teams that can adapt quickly. As a Senior Mission Operations Engineer, you will work alongside cross-disciplinary technical teams to support tactical operational execution, from command sequencing to real-time decision-making. You will contribute to a culture where risks are surfaced early, mitigations meaningfully influence design choices, and junior engineers receive meaningful guidance to grow in capability and confidence.
Candidates selected for this role will be expected to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. The interview process typically involves a review of technical expertise in mission operations concepts, followed by discussions on cross-disciplinary communication and problem-solving abilities.
