Senior Manager of Proposal Writing (US State & Local Health and Human Services)

About the Role

This position serves as a strategic partner in driving high-value proposal success, acting as an experienced information architect who designs and structures content for complex customer-facing documents. You will lead the proposal development process for intricate projects, translating technical and operational details into compelling, compliant narratives that win business.

In this role, you will function as a resource for the writing team, implementing deal-specific structures and serving as a trusted backup to the project director. The position requires a unique blend of strategic oversight and hands-on writing, where you will interpret RFPs, RFQs, and IFBs to craft win themes and executive summaries that highlight the company's strengths. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and technical experts, to gather insights and produce original, persuasive content that goes beyond standard templates.

The Day-to-Day

Your work will center on managing multiple proposal projects from inception to submission, ensuring strategic alignment with business goals and meeting all critical deadlines. You will conduct comprehensive research and interview subject matter experts to extract and clarify complex information, transforming it into client-facing narratives. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to mentoring junior team members, reviewing content for quality, and incorporating stakeholder feedback to refine proposal strategies.

You will also maintain a library of proposal content and templates, staying updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously enhance the team's output. This role demands resilience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where you will manage multiple assignments simultaneously with short turnaround times.
