About the Team
As a Machine Learning Engineer at Capital One, you will join an Agile team dedicated to productionizing machine learning applications and systems at scale. This team operates at the intersection of Ops, Modeling, and Data Engineering, driving the development of AI/ML capabilities for Credit and Financial Risk Management products. The mission is to build AI-powered products that solve real-world business problems, optimize associate performance, and deliver world-class customer value.
About the Role
In this Senior Lead capacity, you will serve as a technical mentor, leading dedicated pods of software, data, and machine learning engineers. Your work involves the detailed technical design, development, and implementation of machine learning applications using both existing and emerging technology platforms. You will focus on architectural design, ensuring high availability and performance while continuously applying the latest innovations in machine learning engineering.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, and designers to scale AI-powered solutions. A key part of your day involves making informed infrastructure decisions based on deep knowledge of ML modeling techniques, including model selection, data and feature selection, training, hyperparameter tuning, and validation. You will also be responsible for retraining, maintaining, and monitoring models in production, ensuring they are well-governed from a risk perspective and adhere to best practices in Responsible and Explainable AI.

- verifiedExperience deploying scalable AI/ML solutions in public cloud (AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud, Azure) (preferred)
Nice to Have
Master's Degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar field. 6+ years of experience designing, developing, delivering, and supporting AI services at scale. 3+ years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies using Python. 2+ years of experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). Experience staying abreast of latest ML research with an intuitive ability to understand scientific publications and judiciously apply novel techniques in production. Experience deploying scalable AI/ML solutions in a public cloud such as AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud, Azure. Experience designing, implementing, and scaling complex data pipelines for ML models and evaluating their performance.
