As the Geospatial Data Auditor within Cook County's Bureau of Administration, you will serve as the steward of the County's enterprise geospatial data holdings. Your mission is to organize, curate, and catalog spatial datasets to ensure they remain accurate, accessible, and fully aligned with County data governance standards. You will act as a bridge between technical data management and evidence-based decision-making, ensuring that internal departments and external partners can rely on high-quality geospatial information.
In this role, you will collaborate across the organization to promote data integrity and improve the discoverability of critical spatial assets. You will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of metadata and reference materials, adapting to new analytical methods, and providing technical expertise to solve complex data problems. Your work ensures that the County's geospatial infrastructure supports the needs of 20 million residents and visitors through reliable, up-to-date data.
This position is actively recruited and operates under an "At Will" employment basis. Candidates who are contacted for an offer will be required to produce original required documents (e.g., current driver's license, diploma, school transcripts, certifications) within five (5) days of the offer being extended in writing by the Bureau Chief of the Bureau of Human Resources (BHR) or designee. Specific instructions on document submission will be provided upon notification.
Successful candidates must complete post-offer tests, which may include a background check, drug screen, and medical examination. Falsification of any information during the application process will result in disqualification, dismissal after hire, and/or placement on the County's Ineligible for Rehire List for a period of two (5) years. For current County employees, such falsification may result in discipline up to termination.
Candidates with degrees awarded outside the United States (excluding those from U.S. territories and Canada) must have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), or a NACES member organization.
